Voodoo 2020 Covid-19 Update

Post by legion »

Good evening coaches,
Due to the current issues we are experiencing from the virus, and the cancellation of tournaments, the VOODOO leadership team has decided to make the following changes for the 2020 VOODOO tournament series:
  • In the past, we have asked tournament organizers to be mindful of other tournaments on the schedule and not overload certain months on the calendar when it comes to scheduling tournaments. At this time, our focus is to make sure any cancelled tournaments are made up, and we also do not want to discourage potential new tournaments from being created. Therefore, we are relaxing this request and fitting tournaments in where we can. ***We do still ask that you try not to schedule a tournament on the same day as another tournament already scheduled, and any new and rescheduled tournaments still need to be approved for the new date by the VOODOO leadership team to make sure there is no conflict***
  • Since it looks like we might lose at a minimum a quarter of the year due to the current situation, we will be adjusting how the VOODOO rankings are tabulated. Currently the rankings are created by taking a coach's top 10 tournament scores and adding in the travel points earned, to give their total VOODOO score. Now the number of events that will make up the coach's VOODOO score will be determined by the number of events that at least 20 coaches in the VOODOO tournament series attended (up to 10 events). For example, if the top 10 coaches (based on attendance) made 10 or more events, but coaches 11-20 were only able to attend 7 tournaments for the year, then the VOODOO ranking will be tabulated based on a coach's top 7 tournaments plus travel points.
  • Due to this situation, we have already had 2 of our 4 premier events get postponed. It may be possible depending on how long this goes on, that one of our premier events is unable to reschedule in 2020. The VOODOO leadership team is going to work hard to try to get all premier tournaments rescheduled in 2020, but if there is any reason that causes one of the tournaments to be unable to reschedule for 2020, the final tournament on the VOODOO calendar (The Tournament of Champions) will be penciled in as the replacement premier event.
If there are any questions, please let me know.
